DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story/YMMV
- Batman Gambit: C'mon, tell me this isn't true: Near the end, White offers Peter a large sum of money to buy Average Joe's outright. You never see what happens, but the movie implies he refused the offer when they get into the finals. After they win the finals, however, White reveals that Peter took him up on the offer, and Average Joe's is now his. However, it turns out Peter bet the money he got from selling the gym into his team winning, thus winning enough money to buy out Globogym and every gym it's a part of, including Average Joe's.
- Ensemble Darkhorse: Patches and Steve the Pirate.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Combines this and Hey It's That Guy! Just who do you think the German's dodgeball team leader is?
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Chuck Norris. THAT IS ALL.
- It was funny enough when ESPN debuted "ESPN 3" (five more to go until a "real Ocho"), but in reality, a much smaller, independent network beat them to the concept.
- Retroactive Recognition: The Average Joe's member who pines for the ugly Russian on the Cobra team sure looks more familiar now.
- One of the dodgeball is future WWE Women's Champion Candice Michelle.
- Squick: Justin's flashback, White at the end of the movie, Owen and Fran in bed...
- ...White and the pizza slice.
- Unfortunate Implications: The one bisexual in the movie is shown kissing her girlfriend, then kissing Peter. No breakups, nothing. She is assumed to date both her girlfriend and Peter. That is not how bisexuality usually works in today's society.
- Also, there are plenty of racial stereotypes in the movie. Asians in underwear, anyone?
- Well, the game is sponsored by the American Dodgeball Association of America - therefore Refuge in Audacity kicks in, since it's made fairly clear that they're intentionally playing up those stereotypes. Just look at the German team.
