Deadly Mistakes/Shout-Out

Don't act so shocked; with a multi-fandom crossover roleplay created by a group of fans, one should almost expect to see a bunch of references to other things they like. There are quite a few homages to the places where some of the character's parents are from, and then there's stuff like this:

• Two of Newt's nicknames for Mathew are "Lassie" and "Dug".
• Kyle's favorite nickname for Piper is Squirrel Girl.
• Dorian's name is a a rather obvious one.
• The name of Thaddeus's familiar is Tumnus.
• A rather ironic one happens in the case of Grover's name...
• Not so much of a shout-out as much as it was a subtle Take That at the time, but one of Siren's self-chosen middle names is Amethyst, the same middle name as that of a Mary Sue in a fanfic called "One Less Lonely Gurl" (made before the author revealed it to be a Troll Fic).
• After hearing that Wilson's father is Deadpool, part of Piper's unimpressed reaction involved her saying "Whoop-de-fucking-doo."
• Wilson's ringtone for his cellphone is the theme for My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic. Very manly...
  • Susan has Pinkie Pie in one of her pockets. For no apparent reason.
• Ellen noted that the revelation about Salvation being Piper's half-brother was similar to when Luke Skywalker found out that Darth Vader was his father.
  • Mathew first claimed to be Luke Skywalker when he introduced himself to Yuuka.
  • Later, Kyle and Ellen reenact a moment from "The Empire Strikes Back", which is quite fitting considering that they do seem to have a similar dynamic to Han Solo and Leia Organa.
  • Mathew: Endor-fins? I didn't know the forest moon of Endor had fins.
• Dusk: "Y-You're not going to shoot the pillow, are you?"
• Dusk: "Can {{[[[Omniglot]] Newt}}] speak Klingon?"
• Kyle: "[Can Newt speak] Tolkien elvish?"
  • Mathew starts shouting "precious" at one point.
  • Mathew also compares splitting up their team to that of splitting up the Fellowship.
• When Rowan attempted to disguise his identity, he used a fake British accent and said his name was Keith. His roleplayer later stated that it was an unintentional coincidence and explained that it was really a reference to one of Rowan's fathers (Two-Bit, in this case), but considering that the roleplayer that made said misinterpretation is a fan of the band (see also Siren's first lines)...Well, why not?
  • Another odd and unintentional coincidence happened when the deviantart group for them was made on Keith Moon's birthday.
  • Referenced intentionally this time when Kyle calls Rowan "Whiskey Man". (Earlier Rowan told them that Two-Bit thinks that he is a drink-induced hallucination; something similar happens in the song written by bassist John Entwistle.)
• Kyle was raised by a woman named Amanda Reese, which would make him think that he is...Kyle Reese?
• Mathew sings the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers theme at one point.
• Mathew(in a completely out-of-context manner): "Fly, my little monkeys... flyyyy..."
  • Later, Kyle tells Dorian that he's "not in Kansas anymore." Mathew points out that it's obviously true since they were in Ohio.
  • When Brynja asked about what realm she was in, Mathew's answer was Oz.
• Mathew: "Oh ehm gee. Respect his authoritay!"
• Mathew: "Yeah, [Piper will] go 300 on you." As one might be able to tell, Mathew makes quite a few of these. After he says that, Kyle's roleplayer (who is also Mathew's) takes the chance to lampshade this:

"You make a lot of movie references, don't you?"

• Mathew: "I'll take the red pill!"
• Jezebel (in her battle suit and helmet, trying to intimidate the others when they first meet her): "That is just what they want you to believe, Ted. They're using their nosy snooping skills to find out all our secrets! Very clever, but such tricks... won't work... on me."
  • Still during above situation, Ted and Jezebel do an exchange similar to Minion and Megamind revealing that most of their supplies come from an outlet store in Romania, only with how the name "Midnight Helmet" came to be.
  • Much later into the RP, the two have the following exchange while trying to fight off a recently resurrected Kurgan Junior:

Ted: "What's the plan?"
Jezebel: "Well, it mostly involves not dying!"
Ted: "I like that plan!"

• Jezebel (when introducing herself to some of the group): "I am..." Pause for effect. "... Midnight Helmet!"
• Siren (in her first appearance): "Doctor Jimmy! Oh, Mister Jim!"
  • Bernie also refers to him as "Mister Jim", but he calls everyone Mister or Miss such-and-such anyway.
• Piper (in reaction to Siren's sudden appearance): "Oh fuck; the bitch is back." (Mathew even starts singing part of the chorus for said song afterwards.)
  • Bernie is almost a love-letter to him in the form of a character. He's the child of the Local Lad, whom he had played before in The Movie (this version is his father), he wears a set of unusual glasses, he has the same eye color, the same (current) hair color, and his name is based on that of Bernie Taupin, who's been his lyricist for...uh, a long time. This is just in appearance and name, though; the character isn't the same as he is.
    • Because of the above similarities, is it really that much of a surprise that Mathew's nickname for him is "Elton"?
• Augustin (in reaction to seeing Siren for the first time): "Unholy-demon-sending-it-back-to-Hell-where-it-belongs-gypsy-vermin-witchcraft-like-fire-hellfire-this-fire-in-my-skin-he-made-the-devil-so-much-stronger-than-a-man-let-her-taste-the-fires-of-hell-hellfire-dark-fire-now-gypsy-it's-your-turn-choose-leave-or-your-FUCKING-pyre-be-gone-or-you-will-burn-here-in-the-Court-of-Miracles-where-it's-a-miracle-if-you-get-out-alive!" *takes a few deep breaths in* "... BITCH!"
• Kyle evidently likes the Lady Gaga song "Alejandro." Though how Mathew knows this without it ever being mentioned is slightly puzzling.
• Newt briefly reenacts a scene from the Horton Hears a Who! movie by suggesting that Mathew is an ass.
• Piper gave Wilson a Gibbs-slap for giving them an incompetent answer to a question...and she did it again after he gave them a pathetic excuse for his answer. Though considering how short she is compared to most everyone else, one does wonder how she managed to do it.
• Mathew: *sips coffee* Eww. *sips coffee again* Eeew! It horrible and wonderful at the same time! It's like freedom in a cup! *chugs remainder of coffee*
• Ellen's favorite Improvised Weapon is a frying pan.
• Kyle: "I'd be pissed if that wasn't so cute."
• While Bernie was explaining his Backstory about how his parents were from two different time periods yet somehow managed to conceive him, Piper calls him "future boy".
• The gift the Four Horsemen gave Susan was a watch that turns into a shield.
• Susan also tells Thaddeus not to use his Spell Book due to what happened in the Evil Dead movies. He uses a silencing spell on her to shut her up.
  • Susan makes tons of these, given what her dad does for a living. She's brought up The Flash, The Hunger Games, Commando, Batman: The Animated Series (which is odd given that, in this universe, Piper's grandparents from her father's side are both from that show)...
    • She's also brought up both time lords and Gallifrey.
• Mathew (after Thaddeus used a silencing spell on Susan): Woah. Did you just go Ursula on her?
  • Later, Susan herself pulled Sebastian out of one of her pockets.
• Upon freezing the recently-reanimated KJ:

Thaddeus: Yes, well, now she has ample opportunity to [puts on sunglasses] cool down.
Mathew: YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

• Ellen: You think I'm a fool, Rowan?
• Ellen refers to Rowan as "Ennis Del Mar" at one point.
• Kyle refers to Xavier as "Professor."
• Kainashi internally monologues about his good laptop. Best friend.
• Heather has mentioned certain Disney characters such as Rajah, Genie, Shere Kahn, Roger and Jessica Rabbit, and Timon.
• Rowan calls Dorian and Susan "Punch and Judy".
• Augustin (in reaction to Xavier's sudden Out of Character jerkassery): ...something's wrong with you. Really. Stop it, Xavier.
• Brynja's arrival on Earth was slightly similar to her father's.
  • She also demanded "ANOTHER!" after drinking a cup of coffee and smashing the cup just like her father did.
• After Yuuka screamed, Ellen quoted Mr. Moseby:

"Thank you, Yuuka. I'll bill you for the hearing aid I now require."

• Fawn (upon meeting the Serket twins): Hi! My name is Fawn, I have just met you, and I like you!
  • Ellen begging her mom to let her keep Fawn.

Ellen: Can I keep her, Mom? Please, please, please?
Ripley: No.
Ellen: But it's a talking reindeer-cat!

• Thaddeus: As you wish, Jezebel.
• Ellen: (to a group of Husks) "You guys give up yet? Or are are you thirsty for more?"
• Call and Ripley said a variation of Gobber and Stoick's lines when they saw the Praetorian.

Call: HOLY EFFIN' SHIT! WHAT IS THAT?!
Ripley: God have mercy.

• Kyle asked if Eve was a sort of legal assassin.
• Jezebel: Good-bye, Virgin Alarm.
