Cynthia the Mission
Cynthia comes from a family of assassins. She acts as a part-time student who's BALD (she only appears that way), and she continuously receives orders from the organization to assassinate people. The story opens with her and 2 friends going shopping for hair growth solution, when a new mission comes up. Her master, who taught her everything she knew 3 years back, was hired as the target's bodyguard. The two must fight, but what will the outcome be? Read on!
Tropes used in Cynthia the Mission include:
- Abusive Parents: Kanae's mother didn't care about her, and her stepfather sexually abused her pretty much every day. No wonder she killed them both.
- Acquired Poison Immunity: The Rou sisters.
- Artificial Limbs: Bridget's left arm is a prosthesis, complete with hidden drill and Self-Destruct Mechanism.
- Ax Crazy: Yumiko, who uses not one, but two katanas at the same time.
- Battle Strip: The Tournament Arc has a few examples:
- Hypnotized Araya throws off her school uniform shortly into the fight, revealing a skimpier and frillier outfit.
- Padre Phantom enters the ring in a Baron Samedi-inspired outfit, then slips it off and fights wearing only trunks.
- Lingyu Bao enters the ring by doing a flip off of the school roof, slipping out of his jacket long the way.
- Blood Knight: One might wonder why the prince aka Yomogi Shii choose to work as hitman for hire when his purpose in life is to protect Kanae.
- Butt Monkey: Cynthia, who can't win a fight without being hospitalized, gets regular beatings from what seems to be her best friend, was abused by her sister her whole life, is everyone's laughing stock (cough*bald*cough) and is forced by her family to kill people as a job.
- Also, Chou.
- Charles Atlas Superpower
- Child Prodigy: Cybele when she was still a child, Lingyu Bao when he was still a child, and Yumiko, who has an IQ of 300.
- Cold-Blooded Torture: Yomogi Shii (aka the prince)'s favourite hobby.
- Combat Commentator: Most of the main charachters do this at least once, but Rin Gotou takes up the role of official commentator during the Tournament Arc. She manages to make it funny, somehow.
- Combat Pragmatist: All the main villains, but Yomogi Shii more than anyone else.
- Defeat Means Friendship: Cybele almost killed all of her three now loyal subordinates. And apparently, there's more of them...
- Cynthia seems to get along pretty well with Takaya/The prince from even before being trashed by her.
- Eyepatch of Power: Averted. Rin Gotou has a rather cool eyepatch, but is just an otaku who likes Kung-fu movies.
- Evil Eye: Shisuiryuugenjutsu, a.k.a. Wicked Eye is a Japanese martial art, said to be the strongest.
- Eye Scream: Rin Gotou when Yumiko stabbed her eye; Lingyu Bao during his first fight with Cybele.
- Fan Disservice
- Fan Service
- Feel No Pain: Yumiko suffers from type 5 HSAN, which means no pain nor fatigue, along with Super Strength.
- Groin Attack: Done by Kanae to Bridget in Chapter 15. With a TOE BLADE. OUCH.
- Implacable Woman: Yumiko, justified.
- Katanas Are Just Better: And using two at the same time is way cooler.
- Large Ham: Rin Gotou. This goes Up to Eleven during the Tournament Arc, when she becomes the official Combat Commentator.
- Look Behind You!: Look, a flying cat mummy!.
- Double subverted: not only it works every time, but saying this will really bring forth a flying cat mummy; which will curse the summoner for borrowing its power.
- Mind Rape: One possible use of the "Wicked Eye", as Hotaru demonstrates on Cybele.
- Ms. Fanservice: Cybele. She shows up to her fight in the Tournament Arc wearing a bunny suit, for crying out loud.
- Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Padre Phantom, a Necromancer jujitsuka from Brazil.
- One Woman Army: Cybele wiped out a whole shaolin temple overnight when she was ten.
- Ran Gotou , when surrounded by a 10m radius circle of thugs, floored them in one minute. She was sixteen.
- Parental Abandonment: Noel Hyoundou was raised by wild cats.
- After losing both her parents, Ran Gotou was promoted to parent and started earning money to pay her little sister's school fees.
- Peek-a-Bangs: Lingyu Bao. They conceal his scarred eye socket.
- Razor Floss: The prince's weapon of choice.
- Running Gag: Cynthia is bald!
- His (Padre Phantom's) face is scaaary!
- Look, a flying cat mummy!
- Scars Are Forever
- Slipknot Ponytail: Cynthia's hair comes out of her ox horns during her fight with Starling and again when her seal is broken.
- Split Personality: Kanae Takaya IS her prince!
- Tournament Arc: To decide Cynthia's future.
- True Love's Kiss: Breaks Araya out of her hypnosis.
- Villainous Crossdresser: The thai woman is... not a woman.
- Wild Child: Noel Hyoundou was raised by wild cats.
- Writer on Board: The plot just stops until the political commentary is done.
