Canaan/YMMV
- Bait and Switch Lesbians: After all the heightened emotions, almost-declarations of love and subtext between them, Canaan and Maria choose to separate because their lifestyles are too different--and they don't even once contact each other again. A lot of yuri fans felt this was quite a cop-out. At least the makers decided not to kill any of them off or suddenly give one of them a straight option out of nowhere...
- And those who are not yuri fans can be happy for this. It would be a serious break in Canaan's character to have her in a sexual relationship with someone.
- Complete Monster: Liang Qi qualified for this trope once she tricked Hakko into killing Santana, and then laughed at her over the monitor.
- By the end of episode 11, so does Alphard.
- Crazy Awesome: Jin the Taxi Driver.
- Crosses the Line Twice: This may be the only show where a suicide assassination attempt is played for laughs--at first.
- Crowning Moment of Awesome: Mino steadfastly approaching Hakko to give her a Cooldown Hug, even while she is firing a gun at him, as she's on a shooting spree after being tricked into killing Santana with her voice by Liang Qi.
- "I'm a woman who keeps her promises!"
- Ensemble Darkhorse: The badass taxi driver who wasn't even named in-story! Also Liang Qi herself has gotten a considerable fanbase; being voiced by Rie Tanaka helps.
- Evil Is Sexy: Alphard.
- High Octane Nightmare Fuel: What happens to Liang Qi in episode 11 as she descends further into insanity is as f'ed up as it is scary.
- Also, Liang Qi's stomach-churningly vicious beating of Maria.
- And in the last episode, Alphard SHOOTS HER OWN ARM OFF, and even worse, Canaan is left holding it. *shudder*
- Les Yay Shipping: There are quite a few fans of Alphard/Canaan, not to mention Maria/Canaan.
- Magnificent Bitch: If you don't think of Alphard as a Complete Monster, you might see her as this.
- Memetic Mutation: HIGH TENSION!!
- GET SOME GET SOME, GET SOME GET SOME
- Moral Event Horizon: Liang Qi does not seem to be able to live through one day without doing this once.
- Squick: Hakko becomes very intimate with Santana's dead body.
- Not just squick, but due to the circumstances, a brutal Tear Jerker since it shows you how far past the Despair Event Horizon the poor girl is.
- The Woobie: Hakko. Oh, Hakko.
- Cummings, too.
- Woolseyism: The dub adds more swearing.
