Brianna Wu
Brianna Wu is an indie game developer and feminism activist. Wu's sole game to date is Revolution 60, produced by Giant Spacekat Studios, though a sequel has been promised.
She is running for Congress in 2018 in Massachusetts’ eighth district.[1]
Brianna Wu provides examples of the following tropes:
- Badass Biker: Has a like of this trope, as evidenced in Revolution 60, based on the fact Wu has a motorcycle IRL and has admitted the characters in Revolution 60 are somewhat Author Avatar based on herself (including the character who actually rides a motorcycle ingame}.
- Soapbox Sadie: Look no further than Wu's own Twitter, which is loaded with long spiels about feminism, women in tech, civil rights awareness, and so on. Oddly, despite claims that Giant Spacekat makes games based off Wu's own sociopolitical views, none of them seem to be overtly displayed in Wu's produced work, if at all.
- Uncanny Valley: The humanoid models in Wu's work feature "Bratz doll like" designs. Wu has acknowledged the skeletal model used for the humanoid characters is difficult to work with. Much of Wu art in general features a similar aesthetic.
