Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie (born Angelina Jolie Voight, June 4, 1975) is an American actress and Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency. She is the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand.
She has received three Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and an Academy Award. Jolie has promoted humanitarian causes throughout the world, and is noted for her work with refugees through UNHCR. She has been cited as one of the world's most beautiful women and her off-screen life is widely reported. She has been married (and divorced) twice, to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, and is currently in a long-term relationship with actor Brad Pitt. She and Pitt have six children: Maddox, Zahara, Pax, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne. She has multiple tattoos, several of which she has had removed or covered over the years, most notably her "Billy Bob" and dragon tattoos. She has also been very open and honest about her "wild child" past and her bisexuality.
She is known for her varied roles (though she does tend to be cast as strong female characters) and her critically acclaimed acting. Unfortunately, her incredible acting skills and charity work tend to be overshadowed by (usually false and malicious) rumours, her personal life, her estrangement from her father (they couldn't be more different), and, more recently, her relationship with fellow actor Brad Pitt. Her career started off very quietly, with a lot of independent movies and low-popularity fare (which featured a ton of nudity and a lot of Wild Child-type parts), before a big break (in Girl, Interrupted) got her an Award nomination and mainstream credibility. Unlike many actresses, she continued to do nude work well after she hit big.

- Action Girl: Is well-known for playing them, although it certainly isn't the only type of role she can play. Examples include Lara Croft, Jane Smith, Evelyn Salt and Fox.
- Adorkable
- Awesome, Dear Boy:
- She agreed to act in Lara Croft Tomb Raider because of the locations she got to visit. She fell in love with Cambodia, leading her to move there and help with minefield cleanup. It was also where she met and eventually adopted her first son, Maddox.
- Also, along with Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow, she signed on for Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow immediately after watching Kerry Conran's six-minute film, which he produced on a home computer. They were all impressed with his vision, and wanted to see the film to its completion. (Also, it allowed her to wear an eyepatch and a bubble-helmet, two things she'd always wanted.)
- Betty and Veronica: The Veronica to Jennifer Aniston's Betty.
- Bi the Way: Prior to her marriage to Jonny Lee Miller, she had a relationship with Jenny Shimizu, her Foxfire co-star.
- Big Bra to Fill: She wasn't big enough to play Lara Croft without aid. She has gone on record to say that she wasn't pleased with this, and refused to wear padding for the sequel.
- Bilingual Bonus: Her stomach tattoo reads "Quod me nutrit me destruit", which is Latin for "What nourishes me also destroys me."
- The Cast Showoff: She notably does many of her own stunts in her movies, such as Lara Croft Tomb Raider and Salt.
- Dye Hard: Her natural hair colour is dark blonde. While she does sometimes appear in films with blonde hair, she's best known for dying her hair various shades of brunette.
- Embarrassing Tattoo: Her "Billy Bob" tattoo became this after she and Billy Bob Thornton split up. She later had it removed.
- Even the Girls Want Her: Any number of straight women have said they would go gay for her.
- Fascinating Eyebrow: She's a master of this when the role requires it. Lara Croft Tomb Raider is a good example.
- Fake Brit: Has put on English accents for her roles in the two Lara Croft Tomb Raider movies, The Tourist and for Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow.
- Fetish: She appears to have one for blood. She wrote her groom's name, Johnny Lee Miller, in her own blood on the white shirt she wore to her first wedding, and wore her second husband Billy Bob Thornton's blood in a vial around her neck.
- Former Child Star: Averted. She first appeared in a minor role in the 1982 film Lookin' to Get Out alongside her father, started a modelling career at 14, and appeared in theatre and in several music videos. She then went on to have an incredibly successful career.
- Friend to All Children: She's been a UNICEF special ambassador/envoy for quite a few years now and takes this job with great seriousness, globetrotting tirelessly on behalf of UNICEF. In point of fact, she often keeps her UN trips deliberately low-key to try to keep her celebrity from interfering with the task at hand; for instance, she made an unannounced visit to Bosnia in the spring of 2010 (on break from shooting The Tourist) to investigate the postwar status of orphans in that country.
- Hollywood Hype Machine: A major success story. It got behind her around Girl, Interrupted and hasn't stopped since, and shows few signs of faltering.
- Hot Mom
- Howl of Sorrow: She is very, very good at this when the role calls for it, especially in A Mighty Heart.
- I Am Not Leonard Nimoy: And it goes both ways, having her confused with the Action Girl she plays in blockbusters or the philanthropist of dramas and Real Life.
- Meaningful Name: Jolie is French for "pretty". Nothing more appropriate.
- Ms. Fanservice: She is one of the most prolific actresses in Hollywood history for showing her naked body in film - easily one of the most nude "mainstream" stars. Lara Croft Tomb Raider, Wanted are recent examples. Her early work adds up to the point where she has more movies where she got naked than ones where she didn't.
- Old Shame: One of Jolie's first roles was as a teenage runaway in a music video for Meat Loaf.
- Parental Issues: Her estrangement from her father has been well-publicized. They reconciled, briefly, when he appeared as Richard Croft in Lara Croft Tomb Raider, but the relationship quickly soured again after that (the fact that, in 2002, he went on TV to make claims that she had "mental problems" did not help). Also during that year, she filed a request to legally drop Voight as her surname. However, they have since made attempts to reconcile again.
- Race Lift: She portrays Marianne Pearl in A Mighty Heart. The real-life Marianne Pearl is mixed-race, while Angelina is Caucasian. This has been criticized by some, in spite of the fact that Marianne personally chose Angelina for the role, stating "It is not about the color of your skin. It is about who you are".
- Romance on the Set: She met Jonny Lee Miller on the set of Hackers, Billy Bob Thornton on the set of Pushing Tin, and, famously, Brad Pitt on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
- She's Got Legs: As proven by her 2012 Oscars dress.
- Stage Names: Her name was originally this (Jolie was actually her middle name), until she dropped Voight as her surname.
- Tall, Dark and Bishoujo
- Typecasting: She's famous and talented enough to get any role she wants, but audiences tend to only buy her as a Femme Fatale or Action Girl. She's done several other character types, but they rarely do well at the box office.
