The Dupont Circle Hotel

The Dupont Circle Hotel is a luxury boutique hotel overlooking Dupont Circle, in Washington, D.C.[1][2] Before renovations in 2009, it was known as the Jurys Washington Hotel.[3] Prior to that, it was known as the Dupont Plaza Hotel.

The Dupont Hotel contains nine floors, bar (Doyle), coffeeshop (Doyle & Co), patio[4] and a restaurant (The Pembroke). [4] The Dupont Circle is located at 1500 New Hampshire Ave NW.[2]

The current place where the hotel stands was formerly used as apartments for the International Monetary Fund.[5]

In 2009 the hotel underwent a US$50 to US$52[2][3][4] million renovation, adding a ninth floor containing 13 suites[2] and a duplex Presidential Suite.

Reception

Writing in The Washington Post, Nancy Trejos applauded the hotel's furnishings and convenient location, but felt that it charged too much for some of its services.[4] Writing in The New York Times, Fred Bernstein also praised the hotel's room design. He noted that there were "small mistakes" made by his room service.[2]

The 1964 Dupont Circle structure that previously served as an International Monetary Fund apartment building, is being renovated to become a hotel, and its latest renderings have been released by the IMF, DCmud reports. With the help of Bonstra Haresign Architects, the building is expected the be completed in about a year. It will have a new skin complete with a rain screen and super-efficient glass curtainwall system. The project will add 20 units to the 100-unit building.
