The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Spain

As of December 31, 2018, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reported 58,061 members in 15 stakes and two districts, 183 congregations (92 wards[1] and 46 branches[1]), two missions, and one temple in Spain.[2]

History

No formal missionary work was performed in Spain until after the Church was officially recognized in 1968. The first non-US Military branch was organized in 1968 in Madrid. In 1982, the Madrid and Barcelona Stakes were organized.[2][3] The Spain MTC, located in the Madrid Temple complex, was established in 1999.[4]

In 2020, the LDS Church canceled services and other public gatherings indefinitely in response to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.[5]

Missions

Madrid Spain Temple

The Madrid Temple was dedicated in 1999. The temple complex includes the Madrid Spain Temple, the Spain Missionary Training Center, an institute, temple patron housing, a distribution center, a Family History Center, and underground parking.
