Geography

The city is located on two banks of the Roska River, into which the right tributaries of the Rosishka and Dubravka flow.

The total population is 13 192 people.

Transport

The Kozyatin-Zhashkiv railway passes through the city, there are two railway stations: Tetiiv and Sloboda Post (in the western part of the city - “on Sloboda”, across the river). Tetiiv station is a big one, there is a big hall and a ticket office. There is a bus station.

Svejkovskiy Chapel

At the beginning of the 19th century, a stone church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was building in Tetiiv. A chapel was erecting next to the church, which later served as a family tomb for the Svejkovskiy family. The chapel today has been preserving in good condition and is an architectural monument of national importance. On March 11, 2006, the Catholics of Tetiiv received the keys to the chapel. The chapel is building in antique style. In front of the entrance is a four-column ionic portico with an inscription in Polish “Tym ktorzy zmartwychwstana” (“For those who rise from the dead”) and a triangular pediment with a cross. Above the wrought-iron doors there is a coat of arms and an inscription in Polish, the inscription “Coffins of the Svejkovskiy family”. The chapel is all that remains of the Tetiiv Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which in Soviet times converted into a club, then to the house of pioneers, and eventually became the factory floor of the Electronmash factory. The chapel in those days served as a composition for the plant.

Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary composed in the 20s of the XIX century on the site of an ancient wooden. The decoration of the church was a granite sculpture of St. Jan Nepomutskiy, and the letters N.P.M. Although, according to the Geographical Dictionary of the Kingdom of Poland, it is stated that ... "Latins have in Tetiiv their church a stone parish named after St. John of Nepomucen, Build in the current century (XIX)." In Soviet times, the church became part of the Electronmash factory. Despite this fact, the architectural elements of the church are well preserved, it makes it possible to restore it and the city can receive an architectural monument with a two hundred year history.

Monument to Magdeburg Law

The monument was erecting on May 2, 2016 in a city park in honor of the 410 anniversary of the receipt by Tetiiv of the privilege of self-government under Magdeburg Law.

The City Hall was an indispensable condition for the city to receive self-government under Magdeburg Law, and for 400 years the most significant historical events for the city took place within its walls. On May 13 and 14, the last king of Poland, Stanislav Augustus, stayed in Tetiiv, including a visit to the Tetiiv Town Hall. During his campaign in Volyn, the hetman Bogdan Khmelnitsky spoke to the residents of Tetiiv from the balcony of the Tetiiv Town Hall.

Barrow "Red Grave"

Four mounds have been preserving near Tetiiv since those ancient times, but only two of them have names: “Red Grave” and “Green Tavern”. The area of the mound "Red Grave" is the oldest place of Tetiiv, the site of the oldest burial place of the city residents.

The local historian described the legend according to which in the old days the city of Timoshnia stood on the site of Tetiiv. This city was not yet Christian. Timoshnia destroyed, but the inhabitants managed to bury their treasures near the grave, which in the 19th century called Red. In 1830, a large treasure founded next to the grave, consisting of coins in the form of fish scales and grain.

German colonists built a water brick mill, as well as a dam with two bridges, in 1812.

This area was called Porhun because the water fluttered in the spring, that is, it was noisy.

Until 1917, the owner of the mill was Gabriel Vasilievich Tsutsman. The mill itself worked until 1941.

The present

Gradually improve the improvement of the city. The streets are mostly paved, there are new residential and office buildings. There is a centralized water supply, the city is gasified, radio-controlled, the streets run minibuses.

However, the city's industry suffered significant losses. By the end of the 1980s, the city had the following industrial facilities: the Electronmash plant (branch), the Symbol plant (focused on the military industry), a bakery, a butter factory, etc. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the city failed to retain most of its industrial facilities, objects, each of which ceased to exist during the 1990-2000s. However, a number of successful agricultural sector companies appeared in the city during Independence.

Trade plays a big role. Shops, MAFs are located in different microdistricts of the city. Also in the city is the newspaper Tetievska Zemlya.

Tetiiv City Council

By the decision of the 6th session of the 7th convocation of the Tetiiv City Council dated May 17, 2018 No. 156 -06-VII, it was decided to join the EU Mayors for Economic Growth Initiative, sign a membership agreement and implement a number of measures to ensure sustainable economic development of the society. The primary task is to develop, in cooperation with the private sector and civil society, the Local Economic Development Plan of the City Municipality for the period until 2020 with the participation of representatives of all administrative units that are part of the Tetiiv Community, deputies, public activists, specialists and regional consultants.

On November 22 and 23, 2018, a high-level conference “Municipalities for Economic Growth” was held in Kiev, organized by two initiatives at once, in which the Tetiiv City participates, namely the initiative of the European Commission “Covenant of Mayors” and the initiative of the European Union “Mayors for Economic Growth” .

Under the terms of both initiatives, the city-participant must, in certain of time, prepare normative strategic documents in various areas of life, more precisely in the field of energy efficiency and economic development. The deadlines for the preparation of the program “Local Economic Development Plan of Tetiiv until 2020” are September 2018.

The program "The local economic development plan of the Tetiiv City until 2020" was prepared in a short time by the appropriate working group of the Executive Committee Tetiiv City Council.

After an expert assessment of the coordinators of the initiative “Mayors for Economic Growth” in Ukraine, the “Plan of local economic development of the Tetiiv City until 2020”, submitted to the World Bank experts. Within the framework of the aforementioned conference, the cities participating in the Mayors for Economic Growth initiative awarded with Certificates of Conformity for the Local Economic Development Plans submitted for consideration. The Tetiiv City received such a certificate, confirming its a full member of the European Union's initiative “Mayors for Economic Growth” and the city who’s “The Local Economic Development Plan” has been positive evaluated and approved by World Bank experts.

Since 2017, the Tetiiv City has been the administrative center of the Tetiiv city united territorial community. The community includes 13 counties .
