Swagger!

Swagger! is an upcoming American drama web television series and produced for Apple TV+. The series is set to be written and directed by Rock Bythewood who will also executive produce alongside Kevin Durant, Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo, and Rich Kleiman.

Premise

Swagger! takes inspiration from the youth basketball experiences of Kevin Durant and explores "the world of AAU basketball in the nation's capital, and the players, their families and coaches who walk the fine line between dreams and ambition, and opportunism and corruption."[1]

Development

On February 13, 2018, it was announced that Apple was developing a new series titled Swagger inspired by the childhood of basketball player Kevin Durant. The series was set to be written and directed by Rock Bythewood and production companies involved with the series were slated to consist of Thirty Five Media and Imagine Television.[2]

On December 4, 2018, it was announced that Apple had given the production a series order. Executive producers for the series were expected to include Durant, Bythewood, Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo, and Rich Kleiman. Additional production companies involved with the series now include CBS Television Studios.[1]

Casting

On October 1, 2019, Winston Duke was cast in the series lead role.[3] In February 2020, it was reported that Duke had to leave the series due to an injury suffered on-set, with O’Shea Jackson Jr. taking his place in the lead role as Ike.[4] In July 2020, Quvenzhané Wallis joined the cast of the series.[5]
