Sillu Karupatti

Sillu Karupatti is a 2019 Indian Tamil anthology romantic film written and directed by Halitha Shameem. The film stars Samuthirakani, Sunainaa, Manikandan K, Nivedhithaa Sathish, Kravmaga Sreeram, Leela Samson, Sara Arjun, and Rahul in the lead roles. Pradeep Kumar scored the songs and background score for the film. The film was commercially successful and received critical acclaim.[1][2][3]

Production

The film was announced by director Halitha Shameem after rising to prominence in her debut film Poovarasam Peepee. The film is made with the genre of anthology consisting of four different stories.[6] The film was scheduled to have its theatrical release in around 2018 but was postponed due to production delays.

Marketing

The official teaser of the film was unveiled on 26 December 2018 by Vijay Sethupathi and Arya.[7][8] The two minute teaser was released without any dialogues and received rave reviews from the audience.[9]

Soundtrack

The first single track of the film titled Agam Thaanai was released on 19 February 2019 coinciding with supermoon.[10]

Awards & Honours

  • Halitha Shameen won the JFW woman director of the year 2020 award for Sillu Karupatti.[11]

Release

The Times of India gave the film four out of five stars and wrote that "Sillu Karuppatti is so lovingly crafted with endearing performances, aesthetic visuals (though four cinematographers have worked on it, the film does an amazing job in keeping the visual tone consistent) and emotive music (by Pradeep Kumar) that superbly complement the perceptive writing.[12]
