Serhiy Shkarlet

Serhiy Mykolayovych Shkarlet (Ukrainian: Сергій Миколайович Шкарлет; born 19 October 1972[2]) is a Ukrainian economist and politician. On 25 June 2020, he was appointed as the Acting Minister of Education and Science.[3][4]

Biography

He graduated from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (1989–1995).[2]

Shkarlet is a Doctor of Economics, Professor (2008).[2]

Since May 2010, he served as rector of the Chernihiv State Technological University.[5] In June 2020 Ukrainian media began to accuse Shkarlet of plagiarism in his scientific works.[1][6]

From 2010 to 2015, he was a member of the Chernihiv Oblast Council for Party of Regions.[2][1] In the 2015 Ukrainian local elections he unsuccessfully tried to get reelected, this time on the party list of Petro Poroshenko Bloc.[6]

Deputy Minister of Education and Science for European Integration.[7]

Right before Mr. Shkarlet was appointed Minister, significant volumes of plagiarism were discovered in his scientific publications[8][9].
