Before Eurovision

Beosong 2013

Beosong 2013 was the national final format developed by RTS to select Serbia's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. On 28 November 2012, RTS announced that the competition would consist of 15 entries competing in a semi-final on 2 March 2013, from which five would be selected to advance to the final on 3 March 2013.[4] Both shows were hosted by television presenter Maja Nikolić with backstage interviews conducted by Gorica Nešović and Dragan Ilić.[5]

Competing entries

Artists and songwriters were able to submit their song entries from 1 December 2012 to 20 January 2013. However, an extension of one day was granted since the deadline coincided with a weekend.[4][6] RTS received 171 entries, and a selection committee chose 15 entries for the national final.[7] The titles of the selected entries were announced on 31 January 2013, with the performers being announced on 6 February 2013.[8][9] The selection committee consisted of:[8]

  • Biljana Krstić (musical editor in Radio Belgrade)
  • Momčilo Bajagić (musician and composer)
  • Vladimir Maričić (composer and pianist)
  • Dragoslav Stanisavljević (editor in chief for jazz section in RTS musical production)
  • Dobroslav Predić (editor in musical section of RTS)

Semi-final

Fifteen songs competed during the semi-final at the RTS studio in Belgrade on 2 March 2010.[5] The running order draw for the semi-final took place at the RTS studio on 18 February 2013.[10] The five qualifiers were decided exclusively by SMS voting (up to 5 votes per number).[11]
