Romee Strijd

Romee Strijd (/ˈrm ˈstrd/ roh-may stride; born 19 July 1995) is a Dutch model. She has been a Victoria's Secret Angel since 2015.

Career

Romee Strijd was confronted by a scout when she was 14 and turned it down as she wanted to pursue a different career. Later on she decided she wanted to give modeling a try and contacted agencies. In 2011, Strijd signed with the DNA Model Management agency. In March 2017 she announced via her Instagram that she is now represented by IMG Models Management.[2] She has appeared in editorials for British, German, Spanish, Turkish, and Dutch Vogue, French, Italian, and Dutch Elle, Spanish and Greek Harper's Bazaar, Dutch Marie Claire, and French Madame Figaro.

She has walked for Alexander McQueen,[3] Badgley Mischka, Balmain, Burberry,[4] Calvin Klein,[5] Celine,[6] Christopher Kane,[4][6] DKNY, Donna Karan, EDUN,[3] Giambattista Valli, Hussein Chalayan, Isabel Marant,[3] Jil Sander,[3] Jill Stuart, Kenzo, Loewe, Louis Vuitton,[6] Marchesa,[3] Michael Kors,[3] Nina Ricci, Peter Som, Phillip Lim, Prabal Gurung,[3] Prada,[4] Rag & Bone,[3] Rochas, Roland Mouret, Vera Wang,[3] Victoria's Secret.[7]

She has appeared in campaigns for Carolina Herrera, Alexander McQueen, Donna Karan, Stradivarius, Giuseppe Zanotti, H&M,[8] and Marchesa.[9]

In 2014, she was chosen to be one of the newcomers at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.[7] In 2015, she became a Victoria's Secret Angel. In March 2017 she announced that she was now represented by IMG Models.[10]

In 2018, Strijd was chosen to wear the Shooting Star Swarovski Look in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.[11] In 2018, she became a brand ambassador for popular Australian swimwear brand Seafolly.[12]

Personal life

Since 2010, Strijd has been in a relationship with Laurens Van Leeuwen, son of television presenter Bert van Leeuwen. The couple got secretly married in October 2018.

In May 2020, Strijd and her partner announced they are expecting their first child, a girl. Strijd revealed to have struggled with PCOS for years, she claimed that her weight and high intensity workouts due to her modelling career weren't good for her body, and she had started being nicer to herself, finally getting her period back after 7 years.[13]
