Its cathedral episcopal see is Catedral de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Chiquinquirá, dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, in the city of Garagoa, Boyacá Department.

History

  • 26 April 1977: Established as Diocese of Garagoa, on territory split off from its Metropolitan, the Archdiocese of Tunja.

As per 2014, it pastorally served 174,000 Catholics (97.8% of 178,000 total) on 4,400 km² in 31 parishes and 2 missions with 48 priests (47 diocesan, 1 religious), 39 lay religious (1 brother, 38 sisters) and 12 seminarians.
