Red Rock, Nevada

Red Rock is a proposed[1] unincorporated community in Clark County, Nevada.[2] It is named after the nearby Red Rock Canyon.

History

In 1991, the name of the citizens advisory council was changed from Blue Diamond Citizens Advisory Council to Red Rock Citizens Advisory Council.[3][4]

In 2002, 8,400 homes were proposed at the Blue Diamond Mine. The proposal was later withdrawn.[5]

In 2010, the Clark County Commissioners voted to approve an agreement that a developer could apply for higher density housing than the then current zoning rules near Red Rock Canyon.[6]

In 2019, the proposed development would convert the gypsum mine to 3,000 homes bordering Red Rock Canyon on three sides.[1] In April 2019, the Clark County Commissioners voted to not waive the requirement that the developers get right-of-way approval from the Bureau of Land Management. However, the commissioners did permit access to Nevada State Route 159 for construction.[1]
