Visa requirements

As of 1 October 2019, Qatari citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 92 countries and territories, ranking the Qatari passport 57th in the world according to the Visa Restrictions Index. Prior to 2017, as citizens of a GCC member country, citizens of Qatar were permitted free movement within the GCC member states, in a manner similar to that of the European Union. Since 2017, a diplomatic crisis caused Qatar to be expelled from the GCC and had its only land border with Saudi Arabia forcibly closed by Saudi authorities and since then Qatar has been subject to restrictions on free trade and the free movement of citizens of Qatar by GCC authorities. Qatari citizens have not only lost their previous freedom of movement throughout the GCC, but have been and are currently subject to complete entry bans by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates. Qatari citizens are however still permitted entry to some of the GCC member states, namely Kuwait and Oman. [1]
