Matt Chamberlain

Matthew Chamberlain (born April 17, 1967) is an American session musician, drummer, producer and songwriter.

Born and raised in San Pedro, California

Career

Chamberlain is a drummer, composer, producer, and studio musician who has worked in various genres from rock to classical, jazz, and the avant-garde. He has appeared on albums/tours by David Bowie, Fiona Apple, The Master Musicians of Jajouka, Soundgarden, The Who, Bill Frisell, Robert Fripp, Tori Amos, Morrissey, Phantogram, Kanye West, David Torn, Bruce Springsteen, Rufus Wainwright, Perfume Genius, Bob Dylan, Noel Gallagher, Neko Case, John Mayer, Leonard Cohen, Frank Ocean, Elton John, Pearl Jam, Brad Mehldau, Danny Elfman, Randy Newman and many others, as well as soundtrack work with Hans Zimmer, Marco Beltrami, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Jon Brion and Jars of Clay.

In 2016 and 2019 he won Modern Drummer magazine's readers poll in the Studio Musician category.[1]

In 2014 he filled in for drummer Matt Cameron in Soundgarden. He played over 51 shows with them through South America, Europe and a co-headlining tour with Nine Inch Nails in the U.S.A.

In October 2019 he joined Bob Dylan for his Fall Tour.

He was the Musical Director for The More Music @ The Moore Theatre Seattle, WA, in 2019 and 2020.[2]

Chamberlain is currently endorsed by Yamaha drums, Remo drumheads, Paiste cymbals and Regal Tip sticks. Former endorsements include Craviotto drums, Istanbul Agop and Sabian.
