Love Sick (Bob Dylan song)

"Love Sick" is a song by American musician Bob Dylan. It was recorded in January 1997 and appears as the opening track on his 30th studio album Time Out of Mind (1997). It was released as the second single from the album in June 1998 as various CD formats, some of which featured a February 25, 1998, live version of the song, from Dylan's performance at the 1998 Grammy Awards. The song was produced by Daniel Lanois.[1]

Notable performances

According to Dylan's website, the song has been performed live over 800 times.[2] During Dylan's performance of the song at the 1998 Grammy Awards, Michael Portnoy, hired as a background dancer, jumped in between the band and danced with without a shirt and the words "Soy Bomb" painted on his chest.[3] A video of this performance, with Portnoy edited out, appears on the bonus DVD included in the Limited Edition version of Dylan's 2006 album Modern Times.

The song has been covered by many artists, including The White Stripes[4] and Mariachi El Bronx.[5]

“Love Sick” was used in a television advertising campaign for Victoria’s Secret featuring Dylan himself and Adriana Lima.[6]
