Despite having no prior political experience she received the support of Sacco's political enemy Dan Lewis.[2] The next year she defeated Susanne Clancy by one vote in the Democratic Party official primary to become the Precinct 12W committeewoman.[3] In 1998 Moseley announced that she would seek reelection.
