List of artists by number of UK Singles Chart number ones
This is a list of artists and the titles of their number-one singles in order of total number-one singles in the UK Singles Chart since it began in 1952. To qualify for entry on the list, they must have been individually credited as an artist on four or more number one singles, as recognised by the Official Charts Company. Simply playing or singing on a single is not counted (for example as part of a group or supergroup), so, for example Clem Cattini, a prolific session musician who has played on over 40 number ones, is not included.[1]
Summary
The lists don't include featuring on charity singles / or as a guest appearance... The below list is an additional list showing artists total amounts of 5 or more when added up from when they have had/ featured on/ written or co written/ had their songs covered by other artists reach number one...The same song reaching number one twice only counts as one and songs that reached number one by the original artist then covered by a separate artist counts as twice for example "Tragedy" by the Bee Gees counts twice as it was also covered by Steps as a different version and not the exact same song by the same artist.... It will not show an artist whose total is the same as the main list in blue italic stated for example Rolling Stones(8).......................
