Jenny Kim

Jenny Kim (Korean: 김제니, born November 22, 1993) is a South Korean model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Supranational 2017. She was previously appointed Miss Universe Korea 2016, and competed in Miss Universe 2016.[1][2] Jenny Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea on November 22, 1993. At the age of one, her family had decided to move to Indonesia due to her father's business. Kim was educated in Jakarta Intercultural School[3] and Gandhi Memorial International school in Jakarta for 13 years. She not only can speak fluent Korean and English, she can also speak Indonesian. After graduating from high school, Kim moved back to Korea to start her University at Ewha Womans University. The reason why Kim had went to a Korean University is because she wanted to experience her own culture and learn more about the country itself.

Personal life

Kim currently studies at Ewha Womans University double majoring in international office administration and English language and literature.[4] She also volunteers to be an interpreter at the National Museum of Indonesia in Jakarta.[5] Kim's personal life had been revealed by her own Instagram account and grabbed a lot of attention. Unlike her pageantry looks, Kim had shared her daily lifestyle and looks. Many of her fans had commented that Kim's daily looks are as good as her pageantry looks.[6] Besides being a student, Kim is also a Korean model. She had been the main model of BigPark (Korean designer) in the Seoul Fashion Week 2018. She also had attended different fashion brands and fashion shows at the Seoul Fashion Week such as Ashoka by William Goldberg. Kim has also worn a lot of famous Korean designer's clothing in many events. One of the most often clothing brand that Kim had worn is from the famous Korean designer Andre Kim. Kim is currently working as a model and an International influencer. She currently visited the Komodo Islands in Indonesia to promote the island and also the five star resort Ayana Komodo with other famous influencers and models from all around the world. For the past two years, Kim is working as a beauty pageant coach for Miss Queen Korea contestants.

Miss World Korea 2015

Kim competed Miss World Korea 2015, became 1st runner-up. After being announced as the 1st runner-up at Miss World, Kim had never given up her dreams and continuously got trained to pursue her dreams of competing at Miss Universe 2016.

Miss Universe 2016

Kim was appointed Miss Universe Korea 2016 by Park Jeong-ah, national director of Miss Universe Korea. Kim competed with 85 other contestants at the 65th Miss Universe 2016, where she was awarded Miss Congeniality. It was the first time that Korea had received Miss Congeniality at Miss Universe.[2] Kim was very thankful about receiving an award and stated that "I believe that this award was as meaningful as being the Winner of Miss Universe because it really showed my personality and others had accepted who I really am. I had the moment to look back thru my life that if I was not educated from an International school, I would have not received this award. I was very grateful with the opportunity and felt gratitude with all the experiences."

Miss Supranational 2017

Kim competed at Miss Supranational 2017 which was held in Krynica-Zdrój Poland on December 1. Miss Supranational is one of the Top 5 International Beauty Pageants in the world. Kim was crowned as the winner by the outgoing titleholder Miss Supranational 2016, Srinidhi Ramesh Shetty. She is the first winner from Korea and also the first major title for her country.[7] Kim was one of the top fan favorites at Miss Supranational 2017.[8] Kim had also got a spot light on the top 5 interview questions. Her interview question was “What would I do with one million dollars?” Kim's answer was “If I had one million dollars, I would like to build a school because it is one of my advocacies to help children who are not getting the basic education. Therefore, if I had one million dollars, I will build a school so that every child can make the future a brighter place.” Her final question was the answer that caught the judges attention. Kim was able to answer the question so well on her interview question because it was her advocacy that making a change is the true meaning of beauty and she believes that children are the ones who will change our future and they will be the future leaders. During the reign of Miss Supranational 2017, Kim had travelled around the world to judge and to attend various events that were related to Miss Supranational. She mostly travelled around Asia such as Vietnam, China, Japan, Myanmar, Malaysia, India, and Indonesia. Kim was on the cover page of Times of India and ETimes when she went to attend for Miss Diva 2018. She had done an interview with the media of Times of India and ETimes with Mister Supranational India 2018 Prathamesh Maulingkar regarding his trip to compete for Mister Supranational 2018.[9] Kim had stated that Prathamesh is one of the strongest contestants at Mister Supranational 2018 and he did win his crown as Mister Supranational on December 2018 in Poland.[10] Kim had also done interviews with Mumbai Live about sharing her story about her journey as Miss Supranational 2017 and also giving some tips to the contestants of Miss Supranational 2918.[11] Kim had visited Indonsia multiple times during her reign. When she visited Indonesia, she also had multiple media interviews with CNN Indonesia [12] and IDN Times [13] Kim had also attended Puteri Indonesia 2018 as the honorary guest. She was the first Miss Supranational to attend Puteri Indonesia. Kim was once again invited to attended Puteri Indonesia 2019 as the honorary judge and this was the first time for Miss Supranational to judge at Puteri Indonesia. Kim had also had the honor to go to Cannes and attend the MIPTV Pink Carpet and also present the International Kids Emmy Award in 2018.

Media

In 2018, Jenny Kim had started a Livechat YouTube channel called SupraLive with Jenny Kim during the Miss Supranational 2018 competition. The show was hosted by Kim with and all the contestants of Miss Supranational 2018. The show was on for three weeks and had 15 episodes in total. The show was a huge success with more than 484.000 subscribers. When Kim had visited Indonesia, she was interviewed by one of the most well-known medias in the world, CNN Indonesia.[12] Kim was also interviewed along with the winners of Puteri Indonesia 2018 Sonia Fergina Citra and Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and Miss International 2017 Kevin Lilliana Junaedy live on CNN Indonesia in 2018.

Judging

During Kim's reign as Miss Supranational 2017, she had done multiple judging internationally. Kim was the judge for Miss Queen Korea 2018 which was held in Korea at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul. She was also the judge for Miss Supranational Myanmar that was held in Yangon, Myanmar. Kim had also been the judge at Miss Supranational Japan, Miss Supranational China, and Miss Supranational Vietnam. Kim was also the judge for Mister Supranational 2017 and Miss Supranational 2018. After passing her crown to her new successor Miss Supranational 2018 Valeria Vazquez Latorree from Puerto Rico, Kim was invited to be an honorary judge for Puteri Indonesia 2019. It was the first time for Miss Supranational to attend Puteri Indonesia as an International judge.
