Ikram Pur

The village name is Ikrampur and it is also known as Baizo Kharki. This village is situated in the north east strip of Mardan. Ikrampur is on the edge of Malakand Agency. A road leads to Thana which is used as an alternate way to Swat, Dir and Buner. This is the last village and Union Council of the District Mardan. Ikrampur is very much safe and fully protected area because it is surrounded by massive mountains on three sides and one side is open for all visitors, guests and businessmen. Hence they promote, introduce and expand their trade/business and trouble-free entrance to the Local Market of the village which is very beautiful and a busy place. It has beautiful mountains, green trees, open fields and a famous lake called Jewar, its detail is given here. The main source of the irrigation is the canal system. The population is approximately 25,000 people. Mountains of this village are ever green. This village is peaceful ,very silent, noise and pollution free place for living. A typical village consists of cemented paths and carpeted streets with safe drainage system. Its houses are made from strong stones so the villagers now build their huge houses from bricks and concrete. Most of the village people live simple life and the needs are minimum.

The favourite location for establish houses is Khana, the pinnacle place for VIPs residents. There are green trees, vast meadows, and flowery bushes in everywhere. The blossoming flowers, fragrant air, the rising and setting sun all leave a healthy influence on the health of villagers. In the summer they rest under shady and green trees. Women also help the men in their work along with their household. They also take care of their domestic variety of animals and colourful birds. Villagers are very traditional people who are hardworking ,much industrious and honest in dealing with each other in all affairs of their life. The life of village is so simple, natural, and beautiful with healthy environment. There is no pain and no worry at all due to Simplicity of living. Impediment makes the life more difficult while straightforwardness makes the life much durable.

Central Gateway to this stunning place is called Dramona, a securing and very legendary place and this is also a main Bus Stop for short and long route transport to Ikrampur and Palai. As per the natural phenomenon when the people increase the inhabitants will automatically be increased. In this regard the population of this village consists of about 25 thousand people and now the population is further expanding tremendously and will be too much for this village.

This village had been divided into various Mohallahs (locations). Let us give some details here:Yousafzai 25%, Torzai 25%, Dalazak 15%, Baddi 15%,Shalmani 05%, Tawaskhail 05%, Changakhail 5% and miscellaneous 5%.

Sui Gas is a much cheaper source of energy than other sources. By the grace of Allah the Almighty and the good work of the people, Sui Gas has been provided now to this village. Every house has Gas supply. At one stage this was the burning issue of the residents of this village. Main Sui Gas Line was already available for the residents of Palai and its surroundings villages. Whereas no Gas connection was to the residents of this village due to prolong dispute. Consequent upon the concerted efforts of the Union Council, Sui Gas has been approved. The women enjoy their cooking now.

Post Office plays great role in communication between different people, department, private and government organization and civil sectors in our country. To provide rapid service to the general public the main Post Office is situated in this village. Main Police Station is situated in center of village(Bangla pull) . The Telephone Exchange is situated in the centre of the village and through this exchange the village is linked with the other parts of the country in general and foreign countries in particular. Divisional Engineer (Phones) and its staff are very cooperative and very polite in dealing with their authorized customers. On lodging complaints they very promptly rectify the defect and technical fault if any.

Mountains, hills ,plants, trees and green lands play a vital role in the pollution free and much healthy atmosphere of the area. In this regard there are some well-known mountains, like Bhand, Shamshadin, Butan, Neeala and Zarani. There are some renowned springs in the village. One is sited in the premises of Shamshadin and another is situated in the premises of Butan. Water of these springs is fresh ,crystal clear and tasty. To provide safety to the various plants and green grass available in these mountains, the Jirga of this village is vigilant over the affairs of these mountains and maintain it well so that the grass can be used for the animals. And various plants and trees can be utilized for alternate purposes. Jirga maintains Nagha System to enhance the fertility of these mountains and when it’s enriched then they dismiss the Nagha for limited duration.

Mountains of this village are famous for lime-stones, green grass and various trees. There is a good variety of forest animals, dangerous snakes and colourful birds in these mountains. To save the wild life, hunting is prohibited here.

I hope the community work in the village continues on volunteer basis and on humanitarian grounds. And I hope it is available 24 hours in emergency situations.
