Hany Soh

Hany Soh Hui Bin (born 24 June 1987) is a Singaporean lawyer and politician currently serving as the Member of the Parliament for Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC since 2020.

Education

Soh studied at Bendemeer Secondary School.[1][2] After passing her O Level, she studied Diploma in Law & Management at Temasek Polytechnic.[1][3][2] She later graduated with a Bachelor of Laws at University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom.[1][3]

Career

In 2016, she joined MSC Law Corporation and the next year, she became its director.[1]

Political career

Since 2011, Soh has been volunteering in Bukit Panjang.[4] In 2013, she subsequently became an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court.[1][3] In 2014, she established the first Community Legal Clinic in a Residents’ Committee (RC) centre of the country.[1][4] Soh joined the People’s Action Party (PAP) in 2012 and was the Young PAP Chairman of the Bukit Panjang PAP Branch from 2015 to 2018. She was also elected into the PAP HQ 2017/2018 Executive Committee.[1][3]

In the 2020 Singaporean general election, she was nominated as one of the candidates for Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC.[2] On 5 July, during the campaign, she fell down and fractured her foot.[5][6] Soh was elected to the Parliament, defeating the candidates from the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) with 63.18% of the vote.[7]
