History

It was established in 1986 as Government Arts and Commerce College following separation of Arts and Commerce Department[2] from SBR College and initially it was affiliated to Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya. In 2009, Government of Chhattisgarh renamed the college in honour of Jamuna Prasad Verma. In 2012, it became affiliated to newly formed Bilaspur Vishwavidyalaya[3].
