Frederiksoord

Frederiksoord is a town in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld, and lies about 24 km northwest of Hoogeveen.

It was the headquarters of the 19th century Society of Humanitarianism. In 2001, the town of Frederiksoord had 254 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.24 kmĀ², and contained 481 residences.[1] The statistical area "Frederiksoord", which can also include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 370.[2]

Frederiksoord was founded in 1818. The name Frederiksoord comes from the patron of the organization: Prince Frederick of Orange-Nassau.
