Before Eurovision

Internal selection

France Télévisions selected Canadian singer Natasha St-Pier to represent France, singing the song "Je n'ai que mon âme" performed in French and English.

At Eurovision

St-Pier was one of the favourites to win, and at the contest secured 142 points, placing 4th of 23 countries. This was France's best placing since the 1995 contest, and, as of 2018, France's best result since.
