Eclectus
The parrot genus Eclectus consists of two known species, the extant eclectus parrot (Eclectus roratus) and the extinct oceanic eclectus parrot (Eclectus infectus).

Taxonomy
The genus was named by Johann Georg Wagler in 1832. The epithet derives from eklektos, the ancient Greek cum Latin term for 'chosen one'; Wagler acknowledges the Latin in a publication later the same year.[1]
