David Munro (police commissioner)

David John Munro (born July 1948) has been the Surrey Police and Crime Commissioner since 2016.[1][2]

He was educated at Bishop Wordsworth's School and Peterhouse, Cambridge where he read Engineering and History, graduating in 1972.[3][4] He spent 18 years in the Royal Engineers, rising to the rank of Major.[3] He was formerly a member of Waverley Borough Council and Surrey County Council.[5]. He was not successful in his bid to be re-selected as the Conservative candidate for the 2020 PCC elections. He stood for re-election as an Independent in the PCC elections scheduled for 7 May 2020; due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the elections were postponed to May 2021.[6]
