Celia Jiménez (footballer)

Celia Jiménez Delgado (born 20 June 1995) is a Spanish footballer who plays as a right wing-back for OL Reign in the National Women's Soccer League and the Spanish national team.[1]

College career

Jiménez began her collegiate career at Iowa Western Community College where she collected 21 goals and 11 assists in 23 total matches. In 2015, she transferred to The University of Alabama. In her first season with the Crimson Tide, Jiménez was selected All-SEC second team and was a member of the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week for the week of 15 Sep, as a result of her game-winning goal in the 3–2 double-overtime comeback victory against LSU.

She studied aerospace engineering at Alabama.[2]

Club career

Jiménez was selected by Reign FC in the 2018 National Women's Soccer League draft. She was the 36th player selected, and the first attendee of the University of Alabama to be drafted into the NWSL.[3]

After finishing her university degree, Jimenez joined Seattle Sounders Women and led the team to the 2018 WPSL Championship.[4]

After the championship win, Jimenez joined Damallsvenskan club FC Rosengård in August 2018.[5] She then signed with Reign FC for the 2019 NWSL season.[6]

Jiménez signed for Australian W-League club Perth Glory for the 2019–20 season.[7]

International career

She was selected as part of Spain's squad at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.[8] Jiménez earned a start in all three of Spain's matches in the country's first appearance in the World Cup. She has represented Spain on every youth national team from the age of 14 onward with a total of 12 appearances with the U-19 team and 12 appearances with the U-17 team.[9]
