With a population of over 40,000 students in 23 campuses from across the province, it becomes a major avenue for learning, creating more opportunities to improve the country's economy.[2] Some 18,000 freshmen are drawn to the university's diverse degree programs for Academic Year 2020-2021. They come from Cebu province's key cities and municipalities. Some of these LGUs inked MOA with CTU President Rosein A. Ancheta Jr. in 2017 to provide locals access to free tertiary education, pursuant to Republic Act 10931.

Dr. Ancheta is serving his second term of office effective March 2019 through March 2023 as per CHED declaration. He works with four vice presidents owing to CTU's aforesaid level-4 status. They are Vice President for Administration and Finance Jerlito Letrondo, Vice President for Academic Affairs Edwin Pilapil, Vice President for Research and Development Adrian Ybañez and Vice President for Publication, Extension and Business Affairs (PEBA) Edgar Tibay.

Keeping appearances in international fora is one of Dr. Ancheta's strategies when it comes to providing CTU a dialogic mechanism with world leaders in going about its daily pursuit for excellence. Notable engagements in Holland, U.S.A., Japan, Singapore, China, and Thailand resulted in the university's growth in terms of major final outputs (MFOs). The university also relishes contributions of certain groups that go for holistic education. Primarily, government agencies such as the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have shown support over the years, which resulted in the former's provision of research funding and the latter's decision to make CTU as recipient of its Shared Service Facilities.

Campuses

Strategically positioned are its 23 campuses from north to south of Cebu Province. From the lush countryside to the bustling metropolis, many have been inspired to earn a degree in college. Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta Jr. has worked out MOAs day in and day out to encourage LGUs in the direction of providing knowledge, skills and abilities to aspiring professionals. To date, the addition of one satellite campus in Babag and a couple of extension campuses has him recognized as CTU's most dynamic leader thus far.

Curricular offerings

Over the years, the university has upheld engineering as its flagship program, which does not miss out on honoring the university though licensure exam zeniths and quiz bowl championships. Equally important are course offerings in education, fishery, agriculture, hospitality and travel management, nursing, and a whole lot more. However, with recent demand in the job market, campuses need to be flexible thus adopting new degree programs which possess the inherent capacity to diversify employment opportunities toward economic growth. Recent development in the main campus, for instance, is the creation of two new colleges and an aviation school in CTU Medellin.
