Carey, California

Carey (also, Jeram) is a former settlement in Mendocino County, California.[1] It was located 16 miles (26 km) south of Covelo.[1]

The Carey post office opened in 1891, changed its name to Jeram in 1896, and closed in 1897.[1] The name Carey honored George R. Carey, its first postmaster.[1] The name Jeram was for Father Jeram who established a Slovenian colony in Eden Valley.[1]
