Owned by Northern Lights Entertainment Inc., the current owner of CKIQ-FM received CRTC approval on February 1, 2010.[1] The station began broadcasting on March 25, 2011.[2]

The station broadcasts music from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, as well as 1980s music all night. In addition to music programming, CKGC-FM also broadcasts Winnipeg Blue Bombers CFL football during its season.[3] The station previously aired Manitoba Moose hockey until its 2011 relocation to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador as the St. John's IceCaps.
