Broadmeadows Bus Service

Broadmeadows Bus Service is a bus and coach operator in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is a Melbourne bus company that operates eight bus routes under contract to the Public Transport Victoria. It is owned by Northern Transit Holdings Pty Ltd, which also operates as Nationwide Tours, Kastoria Bus Lines and Seymour Bus Lines.[1]

History

Broadmeadows Bus Service was formed in 1947 when J Loughnan purchased a service between Broadmeadows and North Coburg Tram Terminus from P Thorne.[2] In the early 1950 coach charter operations commenced. In 1974 services were extended to Campbellfield and in 1985 from Upfield and North Coburg to Craigieburn.[3]

In July 2007, the Wright family, proprietors of Moreland Buslines, acquired a 50% share of Broadmeadows Bus Service.[4] Both the Loughnan and Wright families sold out to Dom Sita of Kastoria Bus Lines in 2011.[5] Broadmeadows Bus Service has since been reorganised under Northern Transit Holdings, along with other Dominic Sita's bus businesses, including Kastoria Bus Lines.[6][7]

The Western Autistic School uses Broadmeadows-owned buses for student transport.

Fleet

As of May 2019, Broadmeadows Bus Service operates 51 buses and coaches.[5] The fleet livery is white with a dark brown stripe.

As of July 2020, Broadmeadows Bus Service operates the following routes under contract to Public Transport Victoria:

• 511 – Craigieburn station to Mandalay Circuit[8]
• 528 – Craigieburn station to Craigieburn Central Shopping Centre[9]
• 529 – Craigieburn station to Craigieburn North via Craigieburn Central Shopping Centre[10]
• 530 – Campbellfield to Coburg via Fawkner[11]
• 531 – Upfield station to North Coburg via Somerset Estate[12]
• 532 – Craigieburn station to Broadmeadows station via Upfield station[13]
• 533 – Craigieburn station to Craigieburn North via Hanson Road[14]
• 537 – Craigieburn station to Craigieburn West via Craigieburn Central Shopping Centre[15]
• 544 – Craigieburn station to Roxburgh Park station[16]
