Biadki

Biadki [ˈbjatki] (German: Battken) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Krotoszyn, within Krotoszyn County, Greater Poland Voivodeship, in west-central Poland.[1] It lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) east of Krotoszyn and 92 km (57 mi) south-east of the regional capital Poznań.

The village has a population of 1,700.

During the occupation of Poland during World War II, in November 1939, the Germans murdered six Polish residents of Biadki in the forest near Kobylin,[2] and in 1944, they also brought dozens of prisoners of war of different nationalities to the village.[3] The Germans evacuated most of the prisoners of war in January 1945, leaving 18 Hungarians, who were then murdered by the Soviets who occupied the village on January 23.[3]
