History

Mapou State Secondary School was inaugurated on May 27, 2005 by Raouf Bundhun, then Vice President of the Republic.

The school was renamed Beekrumsing Ramlallah State Secondary School on March 14, 2006 in memory of Beekrumsing Ramlallah, who was elected to the Legislative Council in 1959, 1963 and 1967 at Poudre D'Or.[1][2][3] He was also a journalist, social worker and co-founder of newspaper Mauritius Times in 1954. The renaming ceremony was presided over by Dr. Navin Ramgoolam, then Prime Minister of Mauritius.[4]

Performance

In early 2019 and for the first time in the school's history, one of its students was ranked amongst the "Cambridge Top 500" list of highest achievers for the 2018 academic year.[5]
