Baksa kembang

Baksa Kembang is a classical dance from the Sultanate of Banjar era in South Kalimantan. This dance at the time was a guest reception activity performed by the daughters of the royal palace. Today the Baksa Kembang Dance is used by the people of South Kalimantan to be performed in a wedding ceremony.[1]

The Baksa Kembang dance tells of a beautiful teenage daughter playing happily in a flower garden. The dancers of this dance are performed by an odd number of women, both singular and plural. The description of this dance is the gentleness of the host in welcoming and respecting guests. So that the atmosphere of the dance will look cheerful.

The value that can be taken from the Baksa Kembang Dance is very noble. Because the activity of respecting and appreciating guests is a noble activity.

Initially in Banjar, the Baksa Kembang Dance had many versions. But now there has been an agreement from a dance instructor in the Province of South Kalimantan. Where the Baksa Kembang dancers wear the crown of the Gemuling Gajah which is set in a rocking flower, a pair of small size bogam is placed on the crown, and a young coconut string named Halilipan. Using a pair of kantil flowers, jasmine and ylang.

The Baksa Kembang dance is accompanied by a gamelan with a standard rhythm, the songs are Ayakan and Janklong or Kambang Muni.[2]
