Baby (Ashanti song)

"Baby" is the third single by American R&B singer Ashanti from her self-titled debut album. The song was released as the album's third and final single on November 17, 2002. It was written by Ashanti, Irving Lorenzo, Andre Parker, Brad Jordan, Mike Dean and producer 7 Aurelius. It contains an interpolation of Scarface's "Mary Jane" which was also ghost-produced by 7 Aurelius. A remix of the song also features Scarface.

"Baby" reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number seven on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart. The song is her fifth top ten entry on the Hot R&B Songs chart. The song only managed to chart at numbers forty-eight and eighty-nine on the Netherlands and Germany charts.

Music video

The music video features actress Nia Long. It is directed by CEO and founder of Murder Inc, Irv Gotti. A video was also made for a remix which featured labelmate Crooked I.
