History

Bradley began his foray into publishing by purchasing the National Journal Group in 1997 and added The Atlantic four years later.[4] After first vowing to leave the magazine in Boston he moved the headquarters to Washington, D.C., in 2005.

On July 28, 2017, The Atlantic announced that multi-billionaire investor and philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs (the widow of former Apple Inc. chairman and CEO Steve Jobs) had acquired majority ownership through her Emerson Collective organization, purchasing the majority stake from Atlantic Media's David G. Bradley.[5][6] The Washington Post'' reports Emerson Collective plans to move to full ownership of The Atlantic in "three to five years" after their 2017 investment.[7]
