Gibson was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the third round, 66th overall, of the 2020 NFL Draft.[6] The team cited his ability to take snaps at both running back and wide receiver as a major reason why they drafted him, with Redskins VP of player personnel Kyle Smith calling him a "swiss army knife" due to his versatility.[7][8][9] He signed his four-year rookie contract on July 22, 2020.[10]
