Anita Schäfer

Anita Schäfer (born 9 July 1951) is a German politician of the CDU who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1998.

Political career

Schäfer became a member of the Bundestag after the 1998 German federal election.[1] In parliament, she serves on the Defense Committee.[2]

Ahead of the Christian Democrats’ leadership election in 2020, Schäfer publicly endorsed Friedrich Merz to succeed Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer as the party’s chair.[3]
