Alan Whittle (rugby league)

Alan Whittle (1 February 1947) is a former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. He played at club level for St Helens, Barrow, Warrington (Heritage № 749), and Wigan, as a wing, centre, stand-off, or scrum-half, i.e. number 2 or 5, 3 or 4, 6, or 7.[1][2]

Alan Whittle was a unused interchange/substitute in St. Helens' 16-13 victory over Leeds in the 1972 Challenge Cup Final during the 1971–72 season at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 13 May 1972, played left-centre, i.e. number 4, in Warrington's 24-9 victory over Featherstone Rovers in the 1974 Challenge Cup Final during the 1973–74 season at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 11 May 1974, in front of a crowd of 77,400 and played stand-off in the 7-14 defeat by Widnes in the 1975 Challenge Cup Final during the 1974–75 season at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 10 May 1975, in front of a crowd of 85,998.
