Acocro District

Acocro District is one of fifteen districts of the province Huamanga in Peru.[1]

Geography

One of the highest mountains of the district is Yana Phiruru at approximately 4,200 m (13,800 ft). Other mountains are listed below:[2]

Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (95.51%) learnt to speak in childhood, 4.13% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]
