Season Background

On the 31 July 2020, Sheffield Wednesday received a 12 point penalty for breaching the League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules for the three season reporting period ending with Season 2017/18, with the penalty takeing effect in the 2020/21 season.[1] On the 17 August 2020, Wednesday announced they will be appealing the decision with a verdict not expected until Autumn 2020.[2]

On the 12 August 2020, the club restructed their coaching setup, with James Beattie coming in as assistant manager, Darryl Flahavan as the goalkeeper coach and Andrew Hughes as first team coach.[3] With Lee Bullen and Nicky Weaver leaving the first team, to work with the clubs academy.[4]
