The Munson Steamship Line, an American steamship company that operated in the Atlantic Ocean primarily between U.S. ports and ports in the Caribbean and South America, had its head office in this building from 1904 until 1921, and owned the building from 1919 to 1937.[4]

Circa 2006, the building underwent conversion to become a residential condominium.[5]

The building was used as the setting for the exterior shots of the Continental Hotel in the film John Wick.[6]
