By car
Wadhurst is a short drive from the A267 on either the B2099 or B2100. From the A21, one can also get to Wadhurst by getting off at the Lamberhurst junction and taking the B2100.
Wadhurst is close to the villages of Mayfield and Ticehurst.
By train
Within short walking distance of the center of the village is 🌍 Wadhurst train station (station code: WAD) which has half-hourly (hourly late at night and on Sundays) trains to London Charing Cross and Hastings.
By bus
A bus service operates to Tunbridge Wells.
Get around
Wadhurst is relatively small and can be walked across in about half an hour.
See
- Church of Saint Peter and St Paul. The has a 34 metre spire and has elements dating back to the 12th century. On the floor of the nave is a considerable array of iron tombstones, a reminder of the Weald's history of ironmaking.
- In nearby Lamberhurst is Scotney Castle.
Do
- A mile or so walk from Wadhurst is Bewl Water reservoir. A walk or cycle around the reservoir is 12½ miles.
Eat
- Wealden Wholefoods. A hippy-dippy co-operative wholefood shop, with a small café at the back. Good for tea (including herbal tea), fresh fruit juices and vegetarian/vegan food. Vegetarians should try the hommity pie.
- Sonar Gaon, High Street. Indian restaurant and takeaway.
Drink
- The Greyhound. A pub dating from 1502, offering food, drink (including real ales) and accommodation. Has a small beer garden.
- The White Hart.
- The Red Lion - due for demolition.
- The Old Vine. A lovely old pub on the road from Wadhurst to Lamberhurst, with a big open fire (in the winter), a decent pint of Harvey's, good restaurant and bar snacks
