Storm Lake

Storm Lake is a small city of 10,600 located in northern Western Iowa.

Understand

Storm Lake has acquired an interesting reputation among Western Iowans for several notable traits. The population, percentage-wise, is among the most diverse of any town in Iowa due to meat packing plants. Most of the recent residents come from Mexico, Sudan, and Laos, among other countries. In addition, it is one of the few towns in Western Iowa situated on a lake.

Taking both into account, Storm Lake can provide a unique experience for those who choose to explore for a little while.

Get in

Get around

As is the case with most of rural Iowa, driving a car is the most efficient mode of transportation.

See

Storm Lake Wind Turbine Park - In the countryside to the northwest and southwest, one of Iowa's first wind turbine parks covers the rolling hills. You may be able to schedule a tour at the main office located on M-3, north of the small town of Alta.

Do

Storm Lake - The namesake of the town, Storm Lake has public parks all around the perimeter.

Though no Schlitterbahn, King's Pointe Resort provides a good afternoon's worth of fun for the family.

gollark: Except for OOP.
gollark: Imperative programming can also lead to badness like mutable state everywhere. But OOP has that a lot.
