A 1.5-mile oval is Kentucky's home for NASCAR, hosting races in all three NASCAR national series (Monster Energy Cup, Xfinity Series, Truck Series) on one weekend in late June and Xfinity and Truck races on a weekend in late September. The 2011 Cup Series race, the first for that series at the track, was plagued by logistical problems. The track and the state worked to address these issues for the 2012 races, which went off without major logistical issues (but were affected by a heat wave).
