Kamishihoro

Kamishihoro (上士幌) is a town in Tokachi, in the far north of Hokkaido, Japan. South area of the town is located Tokachi Plain, there is the town center. North and Central area of the town is located mountainous of Daisetsu. In the old days, forestry was prosperous, but it faded now. North from Nukabira became almost abandoned village.

By bus

Bus service from Obihiro to Kamishihoro (center of town) with 16 round trips each weekday. There is another Highway bus from Obihiro to Asahikawa with 2 round trips.

By car

National Route 241 passes through the city on its way from Obihiro to Ashoro. National Route 273 runs from the center of town to Asahikawa.

• 🌍 Taushubetsu Bridge (タウシュベツ橋梁). Arch bridge of the old Shihoro line it takes to Lake Nukabira.(artificial lake) It emerges the water level falls depending on the season. Depending on the amount of precipitation that year, the water level submerged high early summer generally, come into full view in the winter. Forest road leading to the bridge is in principle closed, You can go up to the foot of the bridge if take a guided tour. 

View from Mikuni pass

• 🌍 Mikuni Pass (三国峠) (30 km from Nukabira.). Pass road capable of car at the highest point in Hokkaido. The views of the majestic views from the parking along National Route 273. 
• 🌍 Lupines in Mitsumata (三股のルピナス), Mitsumata. Old resident became a abandoned village planted lupine, that has increased by native mosquitoes. Wooden walkway is provided. Best time to see is July. Free.. 
• 🌍 Naitai Kōgen Bokujō (ナイタイ高原牧場). 7AM - 7PM. The largest public ranch in Japan. There are a observation deck and a resthouse near the top. Free entrance..

Outdoor bath of Yumotokan

• 🌍 Nukabira Onsen (ぬかびら温泉), Nukabira-gensenkyo. The hot spring town where the inn 9 hotels. Inn of all dealing with bathing. Recommended for there is outdoor bath along valley "Yumotokan" (湯元館) and there is bath in the cave "Sankosō" (山湖荘). Only bathing ¥ 400 - 700.. 
• 🌍 Horoka Onsen Kanoya (幌加温泉鹿の谷), Horoka (15 km from Nukabira). One inn a mountains. Mixed bathing. Bathing ¥ 500.. 
• 🌍 Iwama Onsen (岩間温泉) (15 km runs gravel road from Mitsumata bridge on National Route 273.). Free outdoor hot spring in the mountains. Free..

• 🌍 Nukabira Campcite (国設ぬかびら野営場), Nukabira-gensenkyo. Beside Lake Nukabira. Open period 25th June - 24th September.
