Fanwood
Understand
Fanwood, named after the daughter of a railway official, is the transportation hub for Scotch Plains and other neighboring towns.
Get in
Take the NJ Transit train to Fanwood Station, drive, or take an NJ Transit bus.
Get around
The town is small in area. It is possible to walk to parts of Scotch Plains, but to get much further, a car or at least a bike will be essential.
See
The old train station - which is still on the platform where trains stop every day - is a notable sight, and there are also pretty houses in the area. The old station, built in 1874, is open from 2-4 PM on the first Sunday of every month in the guise of a museum and, otherwise, is viewable from the outside.
